Sure it is fun to see how AI can quickly make fun comparisons and provide you answers to sometimes funny assumptions.
In this case I was wondering if teaching Russian language to the whole Belgian population was less or more costly than the 5% BBP Belgian commitment to NATO defense. Well the answer is that teaching Russian Language to the whole Belgian population compares to 10 years of overall Defense spending. Not sure if this a correct assumption, here are the details and just as an exercise this is quite fun: (Copilot July 2025)
Cost of Learning Russian for the Entire Belgian Population
One-time cost: €92 billion to €276 billion (depending on proficiency level).
5% Defense Spending in NATO Context
Annual cost: €25 billion.
Ten-year cost: €25 billion×10=€250 billion€25 billion×10=€250 billion.
Comparison Over Ten Years
Learning Russian: €92 billion to €276 billion (one-time).
Defense Spending: €250 billion (over ten years).
Over a ten-year period, the cost of teaching the entire Belgian population Russian would be comparable to the cumulative defense spending commitment to NATO. Specifically, the one-time cost of language education (€92 billion to €276 billion) falls within the range of the ten-year defense spending (€250 billion).
